I have a 1Gb GIZMO Jr and have been using it for a couple of years with no problems. When I try to use it now it asks to be formatted. I have used TESTDISK and it cannot find any partition data (says no end mark) - the data is still there and I have used PHOTOREC to copy 2000 files off but without proper file names or directory structures and also my WORD files are not usable. (I use it on Windows Vista and XP machines)
my questions are::
How do I fix the USB so that I can access it again without losing the data that is already there? (Please explain what needs to be done and if you have any recommendations on how to do it).
If I cannot fix the USB, what data recovery software do you recommend?
Thanks

With the situation you're describing, it is possible the data is no longer accessible. I would suggest that you scan the drive using PC Inspector Smart Recovery, to try and recover your files that way. After the hopefully successful file recovery, you can use your OS features to repair and reformat the drive. If that fails, you can use the link to Customer Service in my signature to request a warranty replacement of the Gizmo Jr.
