Any Zotac 9300 Mini ITX mobo users?

I have an HTPC with the Zotac 9300 Mini ITX wifi motherboard and a Crucial 64GB ssd. I'm currently on fw 1571 but would like to upgrade to 1819. However when I try to run the updater from a USB boot disk (Win98 dos boot disk), the tool reports that it can't find a drive and then exits. I've made sure that the BIOS is in IDE mode but still no luck. The BIOS auto detects the drive successfully during POST and lists it as CRUCIAL_CT64M225, so I find it surprising that the tool can't see it. At first I thought it was a problem with the motherboard (I've tried updating the BIOS), but the fact the the motherboard identifies the drive on POST successfully makes me wonder if it could be the drive at fault.

Are there any other owners of this motherboard that have tried the update? Did it work? Could it be the drive at fault?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks, Ben

It's unlikely to be the drive if the drive actually works.  There are occurrences of some Dell computers being unable to see the drive to update it so it could be a similar issue. Easiest thing is probably to put the drive in another computer to upgrade it.

It seems like there may be something strange with this motherboard. I tried putting the drive into my Dell XPS M1330 laptop and the firmware upgrade worked. Do I need to run wiper now to return it to tip top condition, or will the trim in windows 7 take care of it? (I've been using W7 RC with the drive for about 3 months).

Trim will only look after it from now on so yes you should run wiper to clear up any deleted files from the past 3 months. :smileyhappy:
