Hi folks, ive just downflashed from 1711 to 1511 then back upto 1819
Done a sanitary erase, then fresh installed Windows 7.
Using AHCI mode with standard Microsoft AHCI driver.
UsingATTO 512k:
Before update I was getting 265mb/sec read and 195mb/sec write consistantly.
After update im getting 268mb/sec read and 100-105mb/sec write consistantly.
My write performance has died totally (I've tried different benchmark tools too). I've run wiper, I've turned on and off the write caching tick box. I've reset the BIOS (all things recommended by OCZ forums). No matter what I do write speeds are half what they were!
What is wrong? any ideas? is my drive screwed?
Thanks in advance

Same thing here, just after a wipe benchmarks are normal, but as soon as i write anything on the ssd (even one file), i have a huge performance drop. Write speeds are almost divided by two...and read speed lost 20%.
With 1571, my performances were always the same even after hundreds of write processus.

I'm not sure how useful these benchmarks are since the firmware update. I can run one one minute and get a sequential read speed of 90 and run it straight after and get 170 and then again and get 150. Before the firmware update I only benched it once a month ago and got a sequential read of 190 for reference. The real world performance in Windows seems fine, my drive just doesn't seem to be reacting well to benchmarks for some reason

Same for me, benchmarks seem to go crazy since the firmware upgrade. Results vary a lot comapred to 1571, especially with Crystaldiskmark and Atto which show terrible scores most of the time while windows 7 evaluation remains the same at 7.2.
There must be an explanation...

After hours and hours of benching and testing, I've found the source of my particular problem.
1571 Firmware was quite happy to run with my PCI-Express bus overclocked from 100 - 120mhz (Which inturn increased SSD performance by 10mb/sec read and write)
However 1819 firmware will NOT work properly at all with OC'd PCI-Express bus in fact it causes data corruption and random BSOD's.
After turning down PCI-E back to 100mhz / Sanitary Erase / Reinstall Win 7
benched atto now about 4 times and speeds are consistantly 262mb/sec read /190mb/sec write.
Benchies are down a little but at least its stable and TRIM is now active (using standard AHCI driver)
I Thought we were supposed to get the option of 2 firmwares one with TRIM and one with GC?
I want the GC firmware pls not trim (then we can use the intel 9.5 rapid storage driver)

Nope. Crucial have never said there would be a GC firmware. OCZ provide a choice of 2 but they're the only company to do so as far as I'm aware.

Well my initial testing was great but I've just run another ATTO and write speeds have nose dived back to 100mb/sec Crucial I think there is a serious problem with this new Firmware. It starts off ok. In fact this time benchies were rock solid for my first hour on win 7 then the same problem happened again (100mb/sec down from 185mb/sec)

Yeah it's pretty disconcerting, one hour only after a wipe or whatever, performances sevelarly slow down...I have a 64 GB version and crystaldiskmark gives me 160/60 as sequential speeds instead of my usual 195/95 with 1571.
Atto shows terrible results too.

I do not think there are any benchmarks specifically designed for SSD's. It's all very new and unless you feel a significant slowdown I think there is little to worry about. It's part of being a guinea pig.

I concur. It's just as fast at loading windows and warcraft and just as responsive in Windows so I'm not gonna lose any sleep - nor any more write cycles playing with benchmarks.
Though I'll keep an eye on here in case someone does come up with any ideas.
There is an SSD benchmark btw called 'AS SSD'
